have been enjoying splitwise immensely for years and am not surprised that it has made the switch to a paid model to maintain profitability, but i would love to suggest an alternative mode of payment for splitwise to consider!!
my usage of splitwise is purely by occasion only, so a subscription to the app is hard to justify, and i’m sure that is the case for most as well.
to combat that, if splitwise were to introduce one-time payments for creation of a group for one-off occasions i am sure many more will be willing to pay for that. for example, in a 5-day trip for 5 friends they would only need to make a single payment to access full features for that period of time. they could even split the payment on the app itself! 🤙🏼
i really do hope splitwise can implement this feature and i will be a willing and loyal user!! 🙌🏻

For years I have used this app and gotten a lot of my friends to use it too. We loved it. Until months ago when they added what can only be described as foolish short term revenue making strategies (3 expenses max in a day). In chasing after money they restricted the main essence of the app. Who only purchases 3 items a day? And at that point who needs an app like this.
As someone working in revenue tech role, I can only understand this move as a short term money making scheme. It will lead to greater uptake of other equally great apps.
I hope they remove this new updates asap.

Limiting so many feature.. unable to use without pro .. looks need to find another app

Whichever genius management which proposed to limit user expenses to 5 per day deserves his head to be put on a chopping board. Limiting 5 expenses a day for monetization was not a good strategy and should have instead relied on ads per expense to drive growth.

App now limits 3 expenses per day? Ads for 10seconds still acceptable to earn money but 3 expenses per day??? You’ve just lost a long-time user. It was a good app back in the day.

limiting users to 3 entries in 24 hours is wholly impracticable.

Used to be the quintessential all for splitting group expenses but now you need the pro version for this app to be useful.
