It was ok I liked the lessons but I wish they were all unlocked

It’s a lot easier than Duolingo and it makes more sense the only thing I don’t like is formatting inside the app but even that is somewhat cool.

Went from complete ZERO Chinese to basic stuff within a few days (literally only 20min per day)
The icons/visuals combined with the audio feedback make this app as immersive a language-learning experience you can get on a phone

I tried Duolingo for learning Mandarin Chinese, but I would only get so far through dictation before it incorrectly decided I was done talking. Then it would mark my dictation as correct. I couldn't trust Duolingo to teach me properly.
I'm happy to say that HelloChinese is teaching me Mandarin Chinese properly. A lot of the format is similar to Duolingo, but these are the HelloChinese features I like best that do things better:
- HelloChinese has real Mandarin speakers in the high-quality video clips which you then can decipher into pinyin and Chinese characters.
- HelloChinese goes over how to write Chinese characters in exercises where you trace and draw.
- HelloChinese has grammar lessons.
- HelloChinese has personalized review for grammar and vocabulary.
- Most importantly, HelloChinese lets you finish your sentence, and then evaluates your pronunciation, character-by-character.

I am coming from Duolingo and I have to say, HelloChinese is a much better platform for learning Chinese. I appreciate the coverage of character drawing and cultural aspects integrated with vocabulary learning.
